It’s so hard to pick favourites when you get to see so many incredible days, incredible moments and incredible people; but this wedding… this one is right up there.
Kayla & James were married on their family’s private property out past Beaudesert. They had spent months preparing – even renovating the old shed to get it reception-ready. In the weeks leading up to their wedding day – in fact, right up until the night beforehand – it had rained non-stop, and not the annoying-drizzle-that-just-makes-everything-damp kind of rain either – oh no, it rained, hard.
But come the morning of James & Kayla’s wedding there was nothing but blue skies and sunshine – it was the most incredible answer to prayers and it set the scene for the most incredible day. The ground was soggy and muddy but spirits were soaring and the love, kindness, appreciation and joy I was privileged enough to experience left me speechless.
We danced and smiled and hugged our way through the morning, we smiled and cried our way through the ceremony, then we jumped in some John Deer Gators and went flying through the fields and mud and water – laughing hysterically and making beautiful pictures the whole way. Oh, and I cannot forget the hot air balloon… a freakin’ hot air balloon guys! And just as we made our way into the reception – once we were snug and under cover – the heavens opened up again and everyone danced the night away to the sound of rain on a tin roof – perfection.
At the end of it all I couldn’t see my feet through the mud that covered them – that’s when you know it’s been a good one. I hope you enjoy it as much as we all did. (And at the very end of the post you can watch their super happy wedding film, too!)
Kayla & James, thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
